We’re currently on hour 17 of 20 on the ride back from Vegas and the wsop. As you might have guessed I’m writing this long overdue entry on my iPhone. Missy and I have had a lot of fun playing with the new phones for the past couple weeks and it’s definitely getting to the point where I don’t think I could live without it.
Dexter is here sitting on my lap giving me the “whaddaya want from me?” look while Missy is driving along. So far I’ve driven about 14 of the 17 hours and it looks like we’re going to make it straight back to kc without stopping to rest.
Since my last entry I played and busted from my final 2 planned wsop events: the 5k 6 handed event and the 10k main event. Both were lol-donkeriffic as I managed to bust out of both tournaments by getting the money in with sets vs straights against the weakest players at my tables. In both events I busted a few hours after the dinner break.
I had the softest main event table ever which included both Jason Alexander (aka George castanza) and Brad Garret (aka tall guy from everyone loves raymond). There were a couple clueless old guys and a couple Internet pros and that was it. I don’t think I played a softer table since party poker 2004. Anyway I end up busting to brad Garret when he c/c, donks his turned straight vs my 88 on a Qh 8h 5s 9s board and we get the money in. I started the hand about 35 blinds deep so I’m pretty sure there’s nothing else I could do besides watch the espn cameras rush over to our table as the dealer shouted “all in and a call” as brad stands up and waves his arms like a babboon screaming for the board to not pair. After I whiffed the river the espn producer was there to ask for my name/online screen name. I think there’s a v good chance that I’ll make it on tv losing that hand which will be bitter sweet.
So obv being pretty life tilted I went back to our house to unwind. I did a little channel surfing that night and stopped on a seinfeld rerun and missy gave me a hard time about wanting to see George castanza again. About 5 mins later the show ends and guess what comes on next? Yea, “Everyone loves freaking Raymond”. Let the life tilt continue.
Although the tournaments didn’t quite go as I’d hoped, the month in Vegas was definitely a blast. I had a great time hanging with everyone and basically being immersed in 4 straight weeks of poker diacussion. I also managed to run well and ship a big month online.
Some stuff came up that compelled us to get back to kc earlier than we had hoped and we’re going to miss the connect 4 charity event that deucescracked is hosting at Planet Hollywood Thursday night. If you’re in Vegas still you should check it out. They are raising money for a good cause.
Anyway that’s it for now. I’m pretty happy with how my Haj School series ended up and now I’m doing a HUNL dojo with 4 ninjas in training and I think it will turn out pretty good so check it out and let me know what you think.
Later
Aaron
