We’re currently on hour 17 of 20 on the ride back from Vegas and the wsop. As you might have guessed I’m writing this long overdue entry on my iPhone. Missy and I have had a lot of fun playing with the new phones for the past couple weeks and it’s definitely getting to the point where I don’t think I could live without it.

Dexter is here sitting on my lap giving me the “whaddaya want from me?” look while Missy is driving along. So far I’ve driven about 14 of the 17 hours and it looks like we’re going to make it straight back to kc without stopping to rest.

Since my last entry I played and busted from my final 2 planned wsop events: the 5k 6 handed event and the 10k main event. Both were lol-donkeriffic as I managed to bust out of both tournaments by getting the money in with sets vs straights against the weakest players at my tables. In both events I busted a few hours after the dinner break.

I had the softest main event table ever which included both Jason Alexander (aka George castanza) and Brad Garret (aka tall guy from everyone loves raymond). There were a couple clueless old guys and a couple Internet pros and that was it. I don’t think I played a softer table since party poker 2004. Anyway I end up busting to brad Garret when he c/c, donks his turned straight vs my 88 on a Qh 8h 5s 9s board and we get the money in. I started the hand about 35 blinds deep so I’m pretty sure there’s nothing else I could do besides watch the espn cameras rush over to our table as the dealer shouted “all in and a call” as brad stands up and waves his arms like a babboon screaming for the board to not pair. After I whiffed the river the espn producer was there to ask for my name/online screen name. I think there’s a v good chance that I’ll make it on tv losing that hand which will be bitter sweet.

So obv being pretty life tilted I went back to our house to unwind. I did a little channel surfing that night and stopped on a seinfeld rerun and missy gave me a hard time about wanting to see George castanza again. About 5 mins later the show ends and guess what comes on next? Yea, “Everyone loves freaking Raymond”. Let the life tilt continue.

Although the tournaments didn’t quite go as I’d hoped, the month in Vegas was definitely a blast. I had a great time hanging with everyone and basically being immersed in 4 straight weeks of poker diacussion. I also managed to run well and ship a big month online.

Some stuff came up that compelled us to get back to kc earlier than we had hoped and we’re going to miss the connect 4 charity event that deucescracked is hosting at Planet Hollywood Thursday night. If you’re in Vegas still you should check it out. They are raising money for a good cause.

Anyway that’s it for now. I’m pretty happy with how my Haj School series ended up and now I’m doing a HUNL dojo with 4 ninjas in training and I think it will turn out pretty good so check it out and let me know what you think.

Later
Aaron

I sat down last night to get a session in but I just wasn’t feeling it and my other housemates were going to head out for some drinking and some small stakes poker. They decided the plan would be to go to excalibur and play 50/100 (that’s cents, not dolalrs hahah) where they actually have electronic tables. The tables are set up such that each player has an lcd touch pad type monitor in front of them and the middle of the table has a big embedded monitor that displays the cards, pot size, percentages, etc.

As we were getting set up, the floor woman was helping us figure out how to use our players card to load money into the table. She was cracking us up because she kept making these sexual innuendos with regards to anything and everything. I remembered that I had my iphone so I thought it would be a great time to bust out the video recording capability, but unfortunately I only caught the very end of the conversation:

The night was pretty hilarious as the beer was flowing and the virtual chips were moving. Pretty early in the night there were a few limpers and i raised with 2 e-cards and it folded around to some chick who called and someone else called in between. the flop was KQQ rainbow and she donk bet 5 into like 20 pot so I figured it was a good time to raise and empty the clip. I did just that and she called down showing K5. Ted thought I was crazy for trying to move her off top pair so I struck the experience up to science (experimental) and image.

After a while I was in desperate need of ice cream but Cold Stone was closed so I had to settle for a strawberry shake from McDonalds. It was pretty marginal and didnt really settle well in my stomach with so much newcastle swirling around in there.

Our friend “the Doc” brought his hat jk3a and I bought him as well as the sunglasses. I decided it would be a good idea to record him playing the live electronic poker. He was playing the part of the baller with the masseuse rubbing him down:

Finally the night ended as we were walking out and Rick put a $5 on black 17 and 13 on the roulette table and managed to spike a 17 for a ~$180 payoff. We were all very excited for him. Upon our exit, we noticed a stripper/go-go dancer going to town on some slot machines. Again, looking for any excuse to bust out the iphone, I decided to record while Rick tried to get Ted to go offer her some payment for the entertainment:

After leaving excalibur we hit some del taco and crashed back home. Our pool and hot tub were busto (so many things have been busto in this rental house) but I think it’s fixed now. Tonight it’s back to GVR buffet for the epic crab legs (search for crab on my blog if you haven’t heard of them yet).

I’m writing my first blog entry from my new iPhone 3gs. I’m pretty pumped to finally have a “ninja” phone of my very own. I got it loaded up with some Tommy Angelo vids already and downloaded a couple apps including facebook, wordpress and pandora.

I also tried out the logmein ignition app that allows you to get on your pc via your iPhone. You must have an existing logmein.com account to use it. I had/have pretty high hopes to use this app to single table hunl but upon trying it out it proved to be somewhat difficult to control and I’m somewhat afraid there’s a high probability that I might misclick at an inopportune time and cost myself a big pot. It is somewhat cool though since the software runs on your home pc, you do have access to Holdem manager and the HUD. Again, it’s pretty difficult to control but by setting the home pc’s resolution to 800×600 (via the iPhone app) and zooming out it’s somewhat usable.

Hopefully below this post you’ll see 2 updated pics of Dexter having some fun in the Vegas sun.

I’m going to send out a mass text to my phone contacts with my new phone number (AT&T couldn’t put us on a shared minute plan because we had different area codes…WTF?) so if you don’t get the text by next week and you think you should have then email me.

Hopefully I’ll have more frequent blogs to come. I’ve got some pics on missy’s camera of the dc homegame from wed night at the Venetian so I’ll try to get those up sooner or later

I suck at blogging these days.

Here’s some quick updates:

-Won a main event entry on stars last night. I was on the fence about whether or not I was going to play any more events after the 10k hu (because, let’s face it, tournaments suck) but since I qualified for the main event I think i’ll go ahead and play it. Maybe the 5k 6max as well.

-Ordered wife and I one of the new iphone 3gs phones this week and I’m excited about it. I’ve been wanting a “ninja phone” (as i’ve called jk3a’s smart phone for months now) so I’m pretty pumped about that.

-Dad and sis left vegas last week. It was great having them here. We ate some of those sick nasty crab legs that I blogged about last feb/march, as well as Pampas for some brazillian steakhouse meat madness, and also some ribs dad cooked on the grill.

-Jared’s friend Zach came to town to visit for a 4 day stretch of booze and food and hot tub and pool. It’s been fun having him here to spice up the monotony of constant poker conversation. It’ll be sad to see him leave tonight. Here’s a picture of his first day here… when I woke up he was already 11 beers deep in less than a couple hours and chilling here in the pool:

-I still haven’t gone to see krantz’s pad for the “2 months, $2 million” reality show. I’d like to make it over there soon and see what all the fuss is about. I’ve heard it’s an insane mansion with one of the bedrooms having as much square footage as my 4 bedroom house back in KC. I’m pretty pumped to check it out.

-There was a pretty good article on Politico regarding online poker’s future. Here’s the link: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/24007.html

-I staked the doc’s friend Rich (a 2+2′er, dont recall his screen name) in live small stakes poker games. He shipped me $100 profit so that was nice.

I’m going to try to put more updates and pictures of the house and random stuff up here after I get my iphone. I’m hoping with the iphone it’ll be easier to put blog updates when I’m not doing something… but it’s awfully hard to sit and blog when there’s always something going on in our wsop house.

adios muchachos

Wish me luck…. had a nice relaxing day so far to prep for the 10k hu event #29. Dad grilled some ribs, we sat in the hot tub, and relaxed in front of the tv and now i’m off to try to play as well as I can and hopefully run well too.

I went to O’shea’s last night for the DC meetup. It was fun to meet some of the dc members who watch our vids and hear their comments. Everyone was really cool and seemed like nice people.

anyway, off to the rio i go. wish me luck!

edit: 9pm - won first round, headed back to rio now. here’s a post I made on dc about it:

was pretty happy with my first table draw. not sure who the guy is, but he wasn’t the strongest hunl player out there. I got a fortunate cooler at the end when I was up 3:1 on chips or so.

I was real happy with how I played, floated a turn checkraise with air and stole it on the river, made some nice call downs etc. might put a few hands on the blog or something but need food now.

gl all and see ya at 10pm for round 2

busto

ran bad, real card dead… lost a flip at the end with 25bb or so

played well when deep, won a few pots with a couple float/steals in 3b pots, but once we got medium/smallish stacked I flopped top pair twice (and never made better than top pair all match) and lost both when i was down to like 40ish bb through level 3-4 or so.

he played fine… adjusted well-ish to what looked like my nit-tightness (since i was so card dead). perhaps I should have re-stolen more, but I was getting so many unsuited low cards that i didn’t feel like I had enough equity when called (considering stacks were such that it was basically a 3bet pf and any postflop action was all in or a 3bet ship pre).

anyway, whatever… gl to him. i hate tournaments.
