I got knocked out right before the dinner break last night. Pokernews.com reported on 2 of my hands. Here's the first one:


Biggish KK fold early but they got the action wrong. It really went like this:

utg opened to 250 (50/100), MP call, young phan calls on the button, i squeeze to 1300, MP calls, phan calls. flop Q Jh 5h, i pot control check, MP checks, phan bets 3500, I decide to call and see if phan shuts down on the turn, MP folds. Turn is Jx, I check, phan thinks for like a minute then bets 5000, I muck and he shows JJ and I tell him I had KK and he talks for the next 5 minutes about what a nice laydown it was lol...and how he knew I had AA or KK.

They got it pretty close but here's my recollection:

12k effective stacks, I open to 800 (150/300) with AhKc in MP, get a call from the CO, BTN, and the SB. Flop Jc Th 8s checks around. Turn is a Qc, sb bets like 1600 into 3500, I jam 11k or so, folds back to SB who makes the call with 97cc, river club gg

oh well, better to bust now then spend several days and still not cash.

Day 1A (first of 4 day 1s) starts in about a half hour. This is my first main event so I hope to continue my recent tournament "run" (or fast paced walk might be more accurate) by making it past day 1 and beyond. The crappy thing about this tournament is I think there's at least 3 days worth of play before any money is awarded, so if I bust out on Day 1 I'm not going to be too upset just because it would be better than busting out at like day 2.75 and still getting no monies.

I think Day 2 doesn't start until monday or tuesday, because there are 4 day 1s, so i'll have some down time off tournaments if I do happen to luckbox past day 1A, so that will be nice.

I'm planning to just play tight and solid and hopefully get in good spots against tourney donks, so we'll see what happens. We start off fairly deep in the early levels so that will hopefully work to my advantage.

I'll try to post an update tonight or this afternoon.
